1. Raw water. Also known as raw water, where refers to the natural water without any treatment. The raw water mainly comes from river water, well water or city tap water.

2. Water supply. Directly into the boiler, boiler evaporation or heating water is called boiler feed water. Feed water is usually composed of make-up water and production return water.

3. Make up water. During the operation of the boiler, a part of water will be lost due to sampling, blowdown, leakage, etc., and when the production return water is polluted and cannot be recycled, or when there is no steam return water, it is necessary to supplement the water meeting the water quality requirements, which is called make-up water. Make up water is the part of the boiler feed water that is supplied in addition to a certain amount of production recovery. Because the boiler feed water has two fixed quality requirements, so the make-up water is generally subject to appropriate treatment. When the boiler has no production return water, make-up water is equal to feed water.

4. Production backwater. When the heat energy of steam or hot water is utilized, the condensate or low-temperature water should be recycled as much as possible, which is called production return water. Increasing the proportion of return water in water supply can not only improve water quality, but also reduce the workload of production make-up water. If steam or hot water has been seriously polluted in the production process, it cannot be recycled.

5. Soften the water. Raw water after softening treatment, so that the total hardness reaches a certain standard, this kind of water is called softened water.

6. Pot water. The water flowing in the running boiler system is called boiler water. Short for pot water.

7. Discharge sewage. In order to remove the impurities (excessive salt, alkalinity, etc.) and suspended water slag in boiler water, and ensure that the boiler water quality meets the requirements of GB 1576 water quality standard, it is necessary to discharge a part of boiler water from a certain part of the boiler, which is called sewage.

8. Cooling water. The water used to cool a certain accessory equipment of the boiler in the operation of the boiler is called cooling water. Cooling water is often raw water.
